DRAMATIC CCTV footage captured the moment a tree fell on a shop while the shopkeeper was inside.

Muhammad Yabed, owner of the Wine Cabin and the Convenience Store in Holt Heath, was in the shop when a tree fell on top of his shop and hit a power cable during a sudden thunderstorm on Saturday afternoon.

The tree also fell on Mr Yabed's van, which was parked outside.

"It was a lovely day, and then all of a sudden, it went dark," Mr Yabed said.

"I was inside the shop, and then the storm came, and it started raining.

"Within five minutes, it was like an earthquake, and bottles started falling off the shelves.

"I legged it out, and that's when the tree fell.

"It all happened within five minutes - so quick.

"It was scary at the time, but at the time, you just want to get out of the shop.

"I thought it was going to collapse, or the whole thing cave in, but luckily there is not much damage to the shop.

"My van was a little damaged, but thankfully no one was injured."

The store is still open to members of the public thanks to the local community, ho helped to cut down the tree.

The A4133 in Holt Fleet was closed for a short period of time because of the fallen tree, and drivers were urged to avoid the road for their safety and to find another route.
