A MAN has admitted sending a threatening message to a neighbour but has denied assaulting her. 

Andrew Jones, of Avening Close, Worcester, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, (June 8). 

The 58-year-old admitted a charge of sending letter/communication/article conveying a threatening message to a victim on April 24 this year. 

The offence took place in Worcester, the court heard. 

When the second charge of common assault was put to the defendant he denied that offence.

The prosecution alleges the second offence also took place in Worcester on April 24. 

Belinda Ariss, defending Jones, explained the defendant had accepted he had got into a verbal altercation with the victim, but said Jones did not accept an assault had taken place.

Mark Hambling, prosecuting, asked for Jones' conditional bail to be renewed. 

Philip Newton, chairman of the magistrates, told Jones his trial for the common assault would take place at the city court on the afternoon of September 18. 

The chairman told Jones his conditional bail, which included the conditions he must not contact the victim directly or indirectly or go to where she lives, would continue.
