AS a nation of self-confessed fish and chip lovers, you may be pleased to know that today is National Fish and Chip Day.
Most Brits uphold the tradition of going to a chippy every Friday night.
So if you are looking for a new fish and chip shop to visit this Friday, you're in luck because Worcester News readers have revealed some of their favourite chippies.
Ambleside Fish Bar was one of the most popular choices.
The traditional chippy has two branches in Worcester, one on Ambleside Drive, and a new venue in Dines Green on Gresham Road.
Tracey Hodson commented on Worcester News Facebook page and said: "I have lived in Swindon and Manchester and Ambleside are by far the best, always fresh."
Gary Rolls also mentioned the friendly staff and said: "Ambleside lovely food and great portion sizes.
"Always friendly service regards of how busy they are."
Lisa Hull also said: "Ambleside 100%"
Another chippy frequently mentioned was Golden Gourmet in Upper Tything in Worcester.
Linda Rowberry on our Facebook page said: "Golden Gourmet is the best."
One reviewer on TripAdvisor said this could be the best chippy in Worcester.
Another TripAdvisor reviewer said: "The food is very delicious and tasty, I've tried so many other takeaway places in Worcester but keep coming back to this takeaway, you will never find another takeaway in Worcester."
People also showed their appreciation towards Bath Road Chippy on Bath Road.
Catherine Luke commented on our Facebook page and said: "Bath Road Chippy without a doubt."
Chippy-lovers also shared their love for St John's Fish Bar on Lambert Road.
Pat Johnson and Daisy Farmer both mentioned this fish bar.
However, Jeanette Harris said Rainbow Hill Chippt on Astwood Road is the best
One reviewer on TripAdvisor said: "Always a lovely experience to come here.
"The owner is a gem and the food is delicious and cooked to order, so you know that it's absolutely fresh. A very generous helping - one fish and chips was enough for 2 of us."
