The following cases were heard recently by city magistrates on June 1:

ROBERT MAY, 41, of Maple Avenue, Worcester, admitted a charge of assault by beating.

May committed the assault in Worcester on April 16 this year.

May was ordered to do 40 hours of unpaid work as part of a one-year community order.

There was no order for costs or compensation to be paid but May was told to pay £114 victim surcharge.

Grigore SCOROCIRJA, 55, of Grove Field, Worcester, admitted drink driving.

The court heard he drove a VW Bora in Worcester on May 13 this year when he had 68 mcg of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the 35mcg limit.

Scorocirja was disqualified from driving for 19 months but was offered the chance to do the drink-drive awareness course to reduce the ban length.

He was fined £276 and told to pay costs of £135 and victim surcharge of £110.

RHYS DAVIS, of Cherry Orchard in Charlton, Pershore, denied drink driving and possession of a knife.

The 55-year-old is alleged to have committed the offences on April 24 this year in Malvern.

The prosecution alleges Davis was in Volkswagen Crafter on West Malvern Road when he had 42mcg in 100ml of breath - above the legal limit on 35mcg.

Davis is also accused of having a locked pocket knife, in North Quarry car park Malvern on April 29 this year.

Davis was told to return to Worcester Magistrates Court on September 25 for a three-hour trial.

Davis was given unconditional bail.
