A Worcestershire hotel and spa is offering specialist massage treatments for cancer patients.
Therapists at The Malvern Spa, in Grovewood Road, undertook a week-long training course to learn Therapeutic Touch Massage.
This massage technique has been created by industry expert Beata Aleksandrowicz to provide comfort to and support the recovery of those going through cancer treatment.
“We are delighted to share that we are bringing a new and special treatment to The Malvern Spa, to help those living with cancer and undergoing treatment,” said general manager Amy Downton.
“Six experienced therapists, within our spa team, have recently taken part in a week-long specialist training session at our sister hotel Colwall Park, learning the many intricacies of Therapeutic Touch Massage.

“The training involved background knowledge on cancer, as well as an understanding of the importance of adapting each treatment to the individual.
“The therapists also had to complete three case studies, which were then signed off by Beata.
“We are extremely passionate about bringing this beneficial treatment to the Worcestershire area.
“Massage can be incredibly beneficial for those living with cancer, as it can help reduce anxiety, depression, and fatigue, while also improving mood and relieving muscle tension.
“This treatment is now available to book on our website.”
Beata Aleksandrowicz, who ran the course, said: “It was such a great pleasure to teach again at The Malvern.
“Despite a difficult and complex topic, the team were excellent, engaged, and fully committed to delivering the very best for their guests. Their commitment, dedication, and love for their profession is outstanding.”
The Malvern Spa is currently on a shortlist for a national award.
The hotel was named by the Good Spa Guide as being one of the finalists in the Best Day Spa category at the Good Spa Awards 2023.
Another Worcestershire hotel, The Elms Hotel and Spa in Abberley, is in the running for Best Boutique Spa.
The annual awards showcase excellence in the UK spa industry with members of the public invited to vote for their favourites.
Winners will be announced during a gala dinner at Spa Life UK’s annual conference at the Cotswolds Water Park Hotel on Monday, July 3.
