A HOTEL has this evening been evacuated and a man arrested as police, fire and an ambulance rushed to Worcester city centre.
A man was led away in handcuffs from Travelodge in Cathderal Square at 6.55pm following dramatic scenes in Worcester city centre.
Three fire engines, four police cars and an ambulance were deployed to the scene as hoses were unfurled and fire service tape placed across the front of businesses lining the square. Tape was also placed across the entrance the NCP Cathedral Square Car Park as crowds gathered to watch the incident as it unfolded.

Four officers led the man, who offered no resistance outside the hotel, to a waiting police van, his hands cuffed behind his back.
A fire assembly point was set up in Cathedral Square with several guests saying the Travelodge had been evacuated after fire alarms went off.
A female guest, who declined to be named, said: "The security guard said he (the man who was arrested) locked himself in their room and was smoking. That's all we know."
Another guest, who also did not want to be named, said: "I wasn't expecting this when I finished work."
A firefighter at the scene said there was 'no fire' but that they had provided assistance to police.
