A DRUNK driver was arrested after being detained by an off-duty police inspector heading to a family celebration.
Inspector Karl Pierpoint spotted the erratic driver while driving to his daughter's birthday meal and called his superintendent.
Inspector Pierpoint said: "I detained the driver in Holt Heath.
"Officers from Worcester Police attended, completed the breath procedure and arrested the individual.
"Unfortunately we lose too many lives on our roads and a lot of these are preventable.
"Drink driving is never acceptable."
