THOUSANDS of people are set to line the streets for a popular carnival returning to the city in July.
Worcester Carnival's theme will be Our Colourful World and the annual parade is set to take place on Saturday, July 1.
The parade will be making its way through the streets and traders will be able to set up a stall or a pitch at Carnival Village on Pitchcroft Racecourse.
The festival is a hit with visitors every year and about 9,000 people visited the city centre in 2022 after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
And organisers hope this carnival will be remembered by future generations.
A spokesperson for the event said: "It goes straight to the heart of what the carnival is all about – a celebration of everyone we call our neighbours in the city of Worcester.
"We want it to be a carnival for future generations to remember.
"One that includes the breadth of the Worcester community and makes a positive impact on the world around us."
How to take part in Worcester Carnival 2023
The charity event is urging performers and traders to apply and take part in the festivities and is offering the opportunity for applications for those aged six to eight to be in attendance.
Traders will be selling artisan food, drink, or crafts for visitors to enjoy.
Last year's theme for the carnival was 'celebration' and over 30 different groups took to the streets to take part.
Melanie Eastwood was crowned carnival queen last year and she said: "To think that I got through the interview process let alone become Queen was a complete shock as I'm not your typical stereotype Carnival Queen but I've had the absolute best time.
"What it taught me is that if you don't go for it, it never happens. So, why not I say!"
Organisers are also hoping to make the role more inclusive and Melanie has always used her title to encourage people to might not fit the 'stereotype' to apply.
