A MUSIC shop which is now in liquidation is due to be the subject of an online auction, bringing with it the end of an era.

Cranes Music in New Street, Worcester, closed in mysterious circumstances last month leaving some customers scratching their heads as they tried to recover their property from inside.

Now a sign has appeared in the window which says: "Cranes Music Ltd in Liquidation." The sign also contains details of an online auction.

The sale closes on Tuesday, May 23 at noon with a viewing available the day before.

Those who are interested are advised to book an appointment by contacting AMS Auctions.

We reported last month how the doors were closed and locked after staff there served customers for more than 30 years.

Meanwhile, the building's owner, Adam Giagnotti, who is the director of the Olive Branch, is now looking to rent out the Cranes premises again.

He is not connected to the management of Cranes Music itself.

We have reported in 2006 how under managing director Steve Grice there was a Yamaha Music School based at the store.

Under the umbrella of Worcester Academy of Music, the shop taught 500 students a week and offered courses in keyboard, piano, guitar, contemporary singing and drums.

John Cooke arrived to try and get his guitar back after previously posting a letter through the shop's letterbox.

However, the lights were off at the shop which sells guitars, digital pianos, keyboards, acoustic pianos and ukuleles.

We now understand his guitar has been returned to him.

Mr Cooke, 71 and a singer and guitar entertainer, said his Martin DRS1 electric-acoustic guitar was in the shop on a sale or return basis after he took it in two weeks ago.

He paid £629 for it on July 3 last year from Guitarguitar in Glasgow but was selling it at Cranes for £549. The shop takes a 25 per cent cut of the sale, he said.

The owner of the premises - not the business itself - is Adam Giagnotti who shared a post on Facebook saying: "Shop to rent on New Street, Worcester. Retail or restaurant and bar. Private message if you want more details."

He explained he owned the building, describing the situation as 'heartbreaking' for Cranes.

We have approached Cranes Music for a comment.
