A Worcester takeaway that prides itself on hygiene has been rated five stars by inspectors.
Baregrillz, in Brindley Road, Warndon, is among the city’s latest eateries to have been visited by the Food Standards Agency.
Owner Luca Gabriel said: “We pride ourselves on getting these five-star ratings. This is the third time we’ve been given it now.
“We have a really young team here and they all buy into what we are doing.
“We have a consultant come in every six months to make sure we’re up to date with everything, so when the inspector came in he was very impressed.”
Any long-term staff, who are planning to stay at the business for eight months or longer, are giving food hygiene training to at least Level 2.

“This means that they are trained to be able to do the things we want them to do, but it also sets them off on a good footing,” said Luca.
“Our model is we get people in and if we see potential, there are promotions available to you - as a floor manager or kitchen manager, and beyond that, if we were to open another unit there is the potential to send someone over there and really build their career.”
Luca, who also owns two fish and chip shops, said Baregrillz is doing well but like most other businesses has been affected by the cost of living crisis.
“We’ve been massively hit by it, but we don’t really want to be putting our prices up.
"We’re a local business and I live in the area so I know what it’s like at home when you’re getting these enormously high energy bills.
“But if we keep cranking our prices up then people aren’t going to come. I’d rather keep that footfall coming through the door and if profits are a bit down then so be it.
“Everything comes and goes so this has got to come to an end sometime. It has to, otherwise small businesses like us will disappear.”
Five star ratings have also been given to Bull Ring Chippy, Cakes by Karen, Hanbao, Massalla Lounge and Rajkot since the start of April.
