A THREE-year-old boy with cerebral palsy who dreams of cycling around like his friends could get a 'crucial' adaptive trike.

Henry Hudson, who attends Cornmeadow Early Years and Families Nursery, on Checketts Lane, discovered a passion for cycling after nursery staff arranged for him to use an adapted trike.

It allowed him to go on his very first bike ride and staff said he “absolutely loved it”.

Now they want to make sure he has a bike of his very own so he can join in with his nursery friends.

Nursery owner and manager Lorraine Deeprose said: "We have lots of children who use trikes at the nursery and Henry’s trike would allow him to join in outside and play with the other kids.

“This trike will be crucial for Henry.

"It will provide support for his upper body and extra therapy to help strengthen his legs.

"He has the most supportive and wonderful family whose main goal is to help get Henry as mobile as possible."

Cerebral palsy affects movement, balance, and speech, but has not at all stopped Henry from doing what he loves.

Having his own adapted trike would allow him to nurture his love for the outdoors and provide good therapy.

Mrs Deeprose said: "Henry is such a lovely boy and his parents James and Alice are wonderful people who always want the best for their son.

“All the children at the nursery love Henry and so do the staff. He is a happy and friendly little boy who loves to play with the other children and share toys."

Staff at Cornmeadow Early Years and Families are raising money for a Tomcat Fizz trike.

Mrs Deeprose said: "This will be our first-ever fundraising event, which we are looking to turn into an annual event where we help deserving children and families in the community.

“Five staff members will be walking a 10-mile loop on Saturday, April 29, starting from the Nursery.

“We are really looking forward to this and are delighted that Henry, James and Alice will be joining us on the walk.

A JustGiving page has been set up by the team at Cornmeadow Early Years and Families and has already raised £1,364.

The event will be held between 10am and 2pm and a pop-in café will also be open to the public on the day as well.
