A GIANT globe filled the Hive for Earth Day.
Families were treated to a range of activities as one of Worcester’s most iconic buildings celebrated sustainability.
Stealing the show, and no doubt space in many people’s camera roll, was the inflatable planet Earth which filled the Atrium throughout the day.
Meanwhile, a team from Worcestershire County Council had plenty for youngsters to get involved with as they promoted the Lets Waste Less campaign.
Rob Whitehouse, waste reduction projects coordinator, said: “We’ve been invited down to this family event today to try and engage with kids.
“While they’re enjoying the games, we can catch mum and dad to have a word about things like composting and repair cafes.
“It’s been really good, the kids have been great!
“They already learn a lot about recycling in school but it’s today is just about trying to them to think about things they can do at home, like composting.
“Games is the key, and the kids loving playing them, but the message behind the games is really important too.”

Earth Day takes place on April 22 every year, to mark the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.
Today, the Earth Day Network brings together more than 20,000 partners and organizations in 190 countries to support the Earth Day mission year-round.
Supporting the occasion at the Hive was children’s author Helen Wendy Cooper, who used to be a judge on the CITV show, Share a Story, and now goes round schools in Worcestershire running workshops.
“I read my book, The Kissing Tree, to a group of around 20 to 30 children this morning who all sat beautifully and listened politely.
“I love animals, I used to work at an animal sanctuary and now I have 24 pets at home from zebra mice to geckos and cats.”

Family Earth Day at the Hive ran from 11am to 2pm, with crafts, drawing workshops and plant potting activities.
Speaking ahead of the occasion, Hannah Perrott, assistant director for communities at Worcestershire County Council, said: “Our themed days at the Hive highlight a lot of different activities and things for families to get involved in. There really is something for everyone.”
