An INJURED deer caused disruption on the motorway.
One lane of the M5 northbound had to be closed following reports of an animal on the road this morning.
National Highways officers arrived shortly before 8am to find an injured deer.
At around 10.30am, RPSCA staff collected the deer and all lanes of the motorway are back open.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "We received a report of an injured deer in the nearside lane of the northbound carriageway between junctions eight and seven at 7.40am.
"We closed lane one and stayed with it until the RSPCA could attend.
"They’ve now taken the deer and we’ve reopened the lane in the last few minutes."
West Mercia Police were also alerted to the injured animal.
A spokesperson for the force added: "At around 7.35am this morning (Wednesday, April 19) we received a report of an injured deer on the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway between junctions eight and seven.
"This was passed to the Highways agency and they are currently in attendance.
"The RSPCA have also been requested to attend."
The RSPCA has been contacted for further information.
