A WORCESTER man has avoided a driving ban after being caught using a mobile phone at the wheel.
Daile Torbett-Traylor, 37, was driving a Mercedes Benz Sprinter on Windermere Drive whislt using a mobile phone on Tuesday, July 5.
This was proven in a single justice procedure at Worcester Magistrates' Court on Friday, January 27.
Torbett-Traylor, of Patterdale Drive, was not disqualified from driving due to the impact it would have on his partner.
The court heard that disqualification would mean that Torbett-Traylor's partner would have had to withdraw from her midwifery course and could also have resulted in the loss of their family home.
His driving record was endorsed with six points, and he was fined £384.
Torbett-Traylor was also made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £154, and costs of £110.
He has until Friday, May 12 to pay the total balance of £648.
