A 44-YEAR-old man, jailed for a number of offences including using a fire extinguisher in a city chip shop, told magistrates: "I don't need prison."
Justin Wynn, who appeared on videolink from HMP Hewell to Worcester Magistrates Court, tried to speak to magistrates before his case started saying "I hate it here".
Eleanor Peart, prosecuting, went through Wynn's crime spree which took place between November last year and this month.
The court heard:
- On November 11 Wynn stole fragrances worth £39.99 from TK Maxx in Worcester.
- On December 5 Wynn harassed Abbey Slim in Worcester.
- On December 16 Wynn stole £63.39 from Home Bargains in Worcester before assaulting the store manager and resisting arrest when police arrived.
- On January 13 Wynn stole £100 from Co-op in Pershore.
- On April 4 Wynn stole clothing worth £99.95 from Mountain Warehouse in Worcester.
- On April 10 in Worcester Wynn assaulted Osama Butt.
- On April 10 Wynn committed criminal damage at Mother Hubbard's Fish and Chip shop at Shrub Hill Retail Park.
Miss Peart said in the chip shop crime Wynn had sprayed the fire extinguisher before running off.
She said it had led to the shop having to be cleaned and the cooking fat replaced.
The prosecutor explained Abbey Slim was a housing officer who Wynn had intimidated in an incident that lasted half hour and caused the victim distress.
And Miss Peart said, in the Home Bargains incident, Wynn had assaulted the store manager as he had tried to stop the thief.
Wynn admitted three thefts; using threatening, abusive, and insulting words behaviour to cause harassment; two assault by beating; causing criminal damage; obstructing a police officer and breaching his criminal behaviour order during the hearing on Friday, (April 14).
Ian Parsons, defending, said: "He is a man who has been in and out of custody.
"He has not had a lot of probation input but they have come to the point they are struggling with him".
Mr Parson said the assault of the store manager had come when Wynn tried to knock a radio out of his hands.
The solicitor added the Mother Hubband's incident took place after the defendant fell down a manhole cover outside the shop - Wynn blaming staff for it being open.

Jacqueline De Sousa, chairman of the magistrates bench, told Wynn they have decided to jail him for six months.
He was not asked to pay compensation to the stores, the chairman saying they wanted to give Wynn a "clean slate" when he left prison.
But Wynn was ordered he pay £100 compensation to Abbey Slim.
At the end of the hearing Wynn said: "I know you have been fair with me, but I don't need prison" before his videolink was turned off.
