THE TOP-rated restaurant on TripAdvisor in Worcester is temporarily closed.

Island, on Broad Street, is taking a short family break to Corfu for the Easter holidays and will be closing the restaurant for a short period of time.

The restaurant serves a wide variety of authentic Greek and Mediterranean cuisine.

Island's owners told customers about the temporary closure and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

A spokesperson said: "We wanted to let you all know that due to Greek easter being this week, we have decided as a family to come back to Corfu for a week in order to celebrate.

"It has been a long time since we have been able to visit Corfu during Easter, so we really hope that this doesn't cause any inconvenience for any of you.

"We will be reopening on Thursday, April 20. Feel free to contact us on mobile or through email regarding bookings. Thank you so much."

Customers have been leaving well wishes and 'enjoy your holiday' messages to the staff at Island on Facebook.

The restaurant has recieved 260 'excellent' reviews on TripAdvisor and has been given a Travellers’ Choice award, which gets given to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews and are ranked within the top 10 per cent of properties on Tripadvisor.
