A TEENAGER has been arrested after a crash which left two people in their 70s with "serious and life changing injuries".

The 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a serious collision in Broughton Hackett on Monday, April 10.

A man and a woman in their 70s were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with serious and life changing injuries.

The collision happened on the A422 in Broughton Hackett, near Worcester, at around 6.45pm.

The collision involved a white Seat Ibiza car and a black Hyundai i10 car.

The crash meant there was no access to tthe A422 from Upton Snodsbury, Churchill, or Crowle.

Worcestershire County Council's Highways and Travel team were supporting the emergency services in attendance, with the road closed between the March Hare and the Spetchley roundabout.

West Mercia Police, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service were all in attendance at the scene.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service previously said their were four people involved in the crash.

They said: “Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called out to a road traffic collision with people trapped in Broughton Hackett at 7pm on Monday.

“Two crews from Worcester Fire Station attended the scene on the A422 along with the police and ambulance service.

“Two cars were involved with both left on all four wheels.

“Crews made the scene safe and there were four adult casualties left in the care of the ambulance service.

“The road was closed for a considerable time. The incident status was changed to pending closure for HWFRS at 8.26pm.”

Police advised drivers to find an alternative route during the closure.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information or dash-cam footage which may help with the investigation.
