The Princess Royal was her usual down-to-earth self as arrived in Worcester having driven herself.
Her Royal Highness visited the city this morning as a patron of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association.
As a dark blue landrover arrived on Crookbarrow Road, many in attendance were surprised to see Princess Anne in the driver's seat.
Accompanied by what appeared to be a Lady-in-Waiting and a security guard, the royal exited the car to a verse of God save the King.
LIVE BLOG: Princess Anne visits Worcester
After meeting MPs, councillors and servicemen and women, Princess Anne dedicated the Norton Worcestershire Regiment Group's statue at Crookbarrow Road.
With a quick wave to the crowds who had come to see her, Her Royal Highness got back in her car around an hour after she arrived and drove off.
She has three more official engagements today, all in neighbouring Gloucestershire.
The Princess Royal will be unveiling the renovated Wickwar Town Hall Clock, opening a training centre at Eastwood Park Limited in Falfield, and visiting Crossroads Care Gloucestershire at Daglingworth Village Hall near Cirencester.
