A WORCESTER thief has been put on warning by magistrates about his future behaviour.

David Ashbery, of Gresham Road, Worcester, admitted stealing from three Worcester shops and from a shop in Wythall, near Redditch, when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court. 

The court heard the 41-year-old committed the first theft on December 1 last year at the Co-op in Wythall stealing £50 worth of various items. 

A day later Ashbery stole £65 of various items from a Co-op in Worcester.  

On January 20 this year Ashbery stole again from the Co-op store in Worcester, taking £20 of various items.

And on March 4 this year he returned to the same city Co-op store taking £50 worth of items.

Magistrates gave Ashbery a two-year conditional discharge warning him if he committed another offence in that period he would be doubly punished.

Ashbery was ordered to pay £185 compensation, with no order for costs or victim surcharge made. 

Magistrates agreed the total could be deduced from his benefits at a rate of £20 per week

The case was heard at the court on Thursday, (March 30).
