MASKED thieves targeting motorbikes in Worcester should be reported as quickly as possible say police with officers yet to make an arrest.

We reported earlier this week how a mum described the terrifying moment masked men tried to steal her daughter's motorbike in St John's in Worcester, sharing CCTV footage of the attempted raid.

However, the attempted theft was not reported to West Mercia Police after a similar incident, which was reported, elsewhere in St John's.

Now West Mercia Police is urging people to report any offences or suspicious activity so they can make arrests and build a case.

The unreported attempted theft happened on a driveway at a home in Martley Road in St John's, Worcester by Tesco Express and the offence that was reported happened in Brookside Road.

Safer Neighbourhood Inspector Tanya Beckett said: "We are aware of the attempted theft of a motorbike and officers are investigating, however as yet no identified suspects or arrests.

"We would of course encourage any victim to report such incidents to us as it assists us in identifying any links/crimes series and helps with building an intelligence picture and the gathering of evidence."

The incident was not reported to West Mercia Police as the suspects did not manage to get away with the motorbike, the family believing security features at their home meant they left empty-handed.

Three men attempted to steal a motorbike in the vicinity of Brookside Road, in St John's, at 4pm on Wednesday, March 22.

The victim of the attempted theft in St John's says the incident in Martley Road happened later that same evening and believes it may be linked.

The footage shows men with masks and hoods up and one shining a torch in the driveway of the home.

The mum said: "After reading the story published about Brookside, we heard a motorbike later in the evening so I'm assuming they came back.

"Fortunately we immediately removed her bike and have since put in better CCTV and floodlighting."

She said: "It made us feel violated that people came on to our drive trying to take something we'd saved a long time for.

"My daughter who the bike belonged to is scared, it being at home and my other children feel frightened that strangers were around our home."
