A DAD-of-one who assaulted his wife has been given a suspended jail sentence and warned he cannot contact her.

Rafal Cwiklinski, of Newtown Road, Worcester, never admitted his guilt to assaulting her, putting his wife through a trial at Worcester Magistrates Court.

During his sentencing at the court on Tuesday (March 28) prosecutor Eleanor Peart went through his crimes.

Miss Peart said on the morning of October 16 last year the heavily intoxicated defendant assaulted her at the family home in Worcester.

"The defendant pushed her and slapped her to the right side of her face with the palm of his hand," Miss Peart said.

"She became more and more frightened. She called 999."

A non-molestation order was made by the courts but on January 7 Cwiklinksi broke into the family home in Worcester.

The defendant was found by the victim asleep on the sofa reporting that to the police.

Miss Peart added the offences were aggravated by Cwiklinksi's one previous conviction.

The court heard that was for making a malicious communication in December 2021 in which Cwiklinksi had told the same victim he would kill her.

Cwiklinski, who was sentenced at the court on Tuesday, (March 28) for breaching the order, assault by beating and criminal damage, represented himself during the hearing.

Speaking through a Polish interpreter Cwiklinski, who had been with his wife Ewelina for 13 years, told the court: "I have been in the UK for 15 years, I'm a respected employee.

"This is the first time something like this has happened to me."

Cwiklinsk said he was working on himself and the alcohol he was consuming to "ensure it does not happen again".

Cwiklinski then complained to magistrates his case had been reported in the Worcester News and had been picked up by a Polish news site.
