THE rollout of superfast broadband across Worcester is well underway with the city's MP receiving a tour of the work so far.
CityFibre recently welcomed Robin Walker MP for a tour of the works in Cathedral Ward, giving him a closer look at the £21m city-wide project.
During the visit, representatives from CityFibre and build partner, Kier, introduced Mr Walker to 'full-fibre digital infrastructure, the best network technology currently available'.
CityFibre says the technology uses full fibre networks (100 per cent fibre optics) to carry data at high speed (up to 1,000 Mbps) and offers 'near limitless bandwidth and connectivity users can depend on'.

Neal Wright, area manager at CityFibre, said: “According to recent Hatch research, in Worcester alone, our full fibre network is expected to unlock £131 million in productivity and innovation, as well as deliver a £83 million increase in house value.
“Worcester was among the first projects to be announced by CityFibre, so it’s really exciting to see the network grow with more addresses going live day by day. We cannot wait to see how the city will benefit.”
Mr Walker said: “I welcome this investment made by CityFibre and I am looking forward to seeing how the next stages of the rollout develop, along with the wider benefits that it will bring to the local economy.”
Construction is being delivered by Kier on behalf of CityFibre. The team is using a range of construction methods while working with Worcester City Council and communities to deliver a fast rollout.
As the network is completed in each neighbourhood, CityFibre will designate the homes ‘ready for service’, which means residents can choose to connect to full fibre-enabled broadband services when they go live in their area.
In Worcester, full fibre services are currently available from Vodafone, Talk Talk, Giganet and Zen.
Across the UK, CityFibre is working with launch partner Vodafone to deliver next-generation broadband services, as well as TalkTalk, Giganet, and Zen with others expected to join the network soon.
