A MAN given a suspended jail sentence for carrying a knife into a city bar was caught again with a knife just days after his court appearance.
Ryan MacDonald, of Bridge Street, Worcester, now faces a lengthy prison sentence.
Eleanor Peart, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court, said MacDonald produced the knife in Quay Street on February 28, only a few days after being given the six months jail sentence suspended for two years.
MacDonald admitted possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place during the hearing of his latest case on March 23.
Gary Harper, defending the 29-year-old, said the defendant had been with a friend at the time adding the knife had not been brandished and there had been no risk of serious disorder.
Deputy District Judge Micala Williams told MacDonald as magistrates sentencing powers were insufficient for his case it would move to the higher crown court for sentence.

There were tears in the public gallery as MacDonald, who had brought a bag to court, was told he would be remanded in custody until the court hearing on April 21.
We previously reported that MacDonald had been in Keystones Cocktail Club when a member of the public reported he had a knife and had been flashing it around.
When door staff spoke to him, MacDonald handed over the kitchen knife.
