A MAN caught drink driving three times in just over 12 weeks now faces deportation from the country after being jailed.
Worcester Magistrates Court heard Shreyaskumar Patel flouted the law and even tried to escape police leading them on a high-speed chase through the city centre.
Andrew Mitchinson, prosecuting, explained to magistrates that on January 12 Patel, of Victoria Road, Malvern, was disqualified after being caught drink driving in December.
Defendants are warned they could go to prison if they are caught driving while disqualified at any time during their ban.
But astonishingly, just over two weeks after the court case at 1.35am on January 27, police stopped Patel in a Honda Jazz in Teme Road, Worcester, due to it travelling at low speed.
Mr Mitchinson said: "PC Rowan smelt alcohol on his breath and inside the vehicle were consumed cans of Fosters beer in the cup holders."
At the police station Patel gave an evidential specimen of 68mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit being 35mcg.
After admitting the offence at the court on February 23 Patel was released on bail but on March 19 he was caught again.
Mr Mitchinson said at 2.40am police noticed a Honda Jazz driving toward Foregate Street.
After Patel stopped and a police officer was approaching him, the defendant threw a cigarette out the window before driving off.
"He failed to stop, and was driving 50mph in 30mph zones," the prosecutor said.
An officer lost him but a second officer continued the chase, before Patel eventually came to a stop in Upper Wick Lane.
Patel's evidential sample for the second offence was 86mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the court heard.

Patel had admitted two drink drive offences, two driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to stop for police.
Tariq Khan, defending Patel, said the defendant was an Indian national who came to the country in June last year to study to be a nurse.
Mr Khan said Patel was currently working as a care worker and sending money home.

The solicitor said: "Whilst it is his own fault any term of imprisonment will inevitably see his visa revoked."
Magistrates took more than 90 minutes in their deliberations before returning to the courtroom to tell Patel he was going to jail for 26 weeks.
Patel was disqualified from driving for 49 months and told the earliest he could drive again in the UK would be April 2027.
The case was heard at the court on Friday (March 24).
