VANDALS have damaged a car parked in a residential road in St John's which had previous issues with vehicle damage.

Lapal Close has once again been struck with vandalism after a car was damaged over the weekend.

PCSO Dawn Wallace confirmed the incident was involving just one car, and the incident did not involve 'keying'.

She said: " There have been reports of damage to a vehicle parked on Lapal Close, Worcester.

"Anyone with any information or CCTV footage please get in touch."

On Monday, January 17, several cars parked on Lapal Close were also found 'keyed', leaving large, visible scratch marks along the sides.

Cllr Richard Udall, Worcester City and Worcestershire County councillor for St John's Ward, said that the issues regarding vehicle crime "is a concern".

He said: "This is a concern to me, Lapal Close is a cul-de-sac, it is not a through road, to enter Lapal Close you have to have intent.

"It only leads to residential properties, so someone is entering the road with the sole purpose of causing damage, unless it was an accident which has not been reported".

"Vehicle crime is an issue in this part of St John's, CCTV does operate in the area, but clearly CCTV is only effective if the persons can be identified."

Cllr Udall said he intends to speak to "police" and "the local authority" to see what action can be taken to prevent this from happening.

He said: "I will be speaking to the police to see what action can be taken to help prevent this from happening again.

"The police, residents and the local authority need to work in partnership to try and eradicate this kind of behaviour, which undermines the quality of life of all residents.
