The following cases were heard at Worcester Magistrates Court recently.

 

Court regular Rowena Thorneycroft who spat and scratched police officers will now have the chance to rehabilitate herself with the help of professionals. 

The 55-year-old, of Barbourne Road, Worcester, committed three assaults by beating of police officers and two drunk and disorderly matters between March and October last year.

Thorneycroft committed an 18-month community order. 

Attached to the order would be an alcohol treatment requirement and 80 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

A MAN spat and threw an Xbox console out his window at police, Worcester magistrates heard. 

Simon Hilton barricaded himself in his flat in Worcester Road, Wychbold near Droitwich, after being told he would be arrested. 

The 34-year-old spat at officer and threw the games console which smashed when it hit the ground.

Hilton was fined for the offence.

A MAN accused of punching his brother is to stand trial.

Samuel Phillips, 27, of Shepherds Hill in Droitwich, indicated a plea of not guilty to assaulting his brother and causing him actual bodily harm.

The alleged incident is said to have happened at an engagement party on May 28 last year.

A date of June 9 was set for a summary trial at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court.

A MAN who burgled an Evesham house when the 76-year-old homeowner was at home faces a wait to learn his fate. 

Russell Purfield, aged 41, of Bewdley Street, Evesham, entered the property on April 8 last year when the occupier was upstairs, Worcester Magistrates Court heard.

A district judge said the offence was serious due to the homeowner being in the property at the time. 

Purfield was told his sentence would take place at Worcester Crown Court on April 14.
