FORMER Worcestershire contestant Joe Phillips has revealed who he is backing to win in the new season of The Apprentice.

This article contains spoilers.

It has been 11 gruelling weeks for this year's candidates as they have been jetted off to places like Dubai, Antiga, and Bristol to complete Lord Sugar's tasks.

Mr Phillips, who is originally from Bromsgrove, built up an impressive track record while he was on the show and even become among the favourites to win.

But he failed to impress Lord Sugar when the candidates jetted off Dubai in episode six and ended up getting fired.

In last night's episode, viewers watched intense interviews as the final five was trimmed down to two.

And Rochelle Raye and Marnie Peckham earned their places in the final.

But Joe Phillips was backing Marnie all along.

She also impressed Lord Sugar with her plan to open up a new gym.

Mr Phillips said: "As much as some of the show makes it seem like the candidates are not incredibly intelligent or that they're silly business people, the reality is to get on the process you have to be a good business person.

"From day one I thought Marnie was impressive, I remember in Antigua, it was a very horrible environment with the girls all bickering with each other and I think she was the epicentre of the abuse with that.

"But I think she's conducted herself very well and she's also fun and I really got on with her in the house and she's easy to work with.

"So from day one I saw her and thought 'yeah she's a strong candidate'."
