A CRASH involving a Bensons for Beds 'lorry' caused major delays on the M5 near Worcester.

A Bensons for Beds spokesperson said they did not believe anyone was injured during the crash.

The crash happened between junction five (Droitwich, Bromsgrove) and junction 4a (The North East, National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham) heading northbound on the M5 motorway.

Pictures from Motorway Cameras showed the queuing traffic caused by the crash, which closed a lane.

Another picture showed an emergency service crew working on the Bensons for Beds vehicle in the closed lane.

According to National Highways, it was first reported at 6.30am this morning.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "This was a single vehicle road traffic collision which was reported shortly before 6.30am.

"All lanes were fully open, and the vehicle was recovered by 8.50am."

There was an average speed of 10mph and severe delays of "17 minutes and delays increasing" between junction six A4538 Pershore Lane (Worcester) and J4A (M42).

They said: "We’re aware of a vehicle accident this morning on the M5 involving one of our vehicles.

"At this stage, we don’t believe anyone has been injured and we are doing all we can to support the emergency services in recovering the vehicle.

"It goes without saying we’ll be looking closely at what happened as soon as we can talk to the delivery crew and examine the vehicle."

"Sincere apologies to anyone caught up in this morning’s incident."

West Mercia Police confirmed they did not attend the crash.
