READERS say the foul odour at the Tesco Superstore on Mill Wood Drive makes them "feel sick", but a councillor has defended them.

A foul odour has been greeting shoppers at the entrance of the Tesco Superstore on Mill Wood Drive, Warndon Villages.

Dean Bowkett, of Cobden Avenue, previously raised issues with a foul smell plaguing shoppers at the supermarket in 2017.

And the bad smell has returned with Mr Bowkett saying it is "at its worst" by the entrance of the supermarket.

Tesco also has a supermarket in St Peter's and there are several other Tesco Express stores also found throughout the city.

In 2017, shoppers at Tesco also complained the smell was so disgusting they were walking straight back out of the supermarket.

A spokesperson for Tesco at the time confirmed that the issue was caused by underfloor piping and that despite the foul smell, the supermarket had no hygiene concerns around food or customer health.
