MULTIPLE car parts were stolen from residential areas in Worcester over a period of three days.

Thieves, who appeared to be on the hunt for catalytic converters, targeted cars parked at residential properties in Arboretum and Claines in the late evenings.

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: "The thefts occurred between Saturday, February 25 and Monday, February 27 in the late evenings, when the items were stolen from the vehicle whilst they were parked on Bevere Drive, Willowslea Road and St Annes Road."

Police believe thieves are targeting Japanese vehicles such as Hondas and Toyotas because catalytic converters are easy to access due to the location of the car part.

Police are also urging people to remove all valuable items from their vehicles before leaving them unattended.

The spokesperson also said: "We are also encouraging the community to call us on 101 if they see anyone acting suspiciously around a vehicle.

"If you have information about this or any other suspected crime, please let us know using the online ‘Tell Us About’ form on our website www.westmercia.police.uk, quoting incident reference 352_I_27022023. "

Earlier this week, another family also fell victim to theft when they realised thieves had stolen a catalytic converter from the same car for the second time in four months.

Three men were captured ripping the converter out from the car on Sunday, February 26 at around 10.40pm on the family's ring doorbell.

The theft took place in just over a minute and they took it turns to rip the car parts from underneath the car and keep a lookout for people driving by.

Sajid Bhatti said: "At 6am, I had a horrible feeling that something wasn't right and a family member told me what happened.

"I haven't left the house today, we are checking the windows and it has made my family really jumpy.

"Last time they targeted two or three cars in the area, but this time we are the only ones who seem to be targeted.

"Maybe they sell the parts for cheaper online.

"It made me feel ill when I realised it had happened again and I didn't want to drive my car."

Police enquiries are ongoing a West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We were called shortly after 6.10am this morning following the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle on Redfern Avenue in Worcester.
