A Worcestershire village has had new swings installed in their park thanks to fundraising from a 10k race.
The Snodsbury Scoot and Scramble, in Upton Snodsbury, was organised by a small committee in June 2022 to raise funds for new swings after a previous set had been taken out of use.
A committee of five local parents organised the race, with more than 130 runners doing the 10k and 50 children taking part in a 1km race.

Combined with kind donations from local businesses including Worcestershire Home Improvements and CJC and with a top-up grant from Worcestershire County Council, the race raised enough to have the swings installed in January by local firm HFN Landscapes.
On Saturday, February 11 the swings were officially opened by Councillor Linda Robinson with more than 50 villagers in attendance.
Following the ribbon cutting, the children took no time at all to enjoy the new cradle and flat seat swing.
Natasha Dent, chairperson of the committee, said: “We are delighted to have the swings officially opened today by Councillor Linda Robinson who has been very supportive throughout.
“It is wonderful to see so many children using the swings and we are very thankful for the kind donations from the race sponsors, from USPRA and Worcesterhire Council. We hope the swings will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
The next Snodsbury Scoot and Scramble will be on Sunday, June 18 2023 with proceeds going to the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.
