Villager children have been enjoying a new set of swings, funded by a running race.
The Snodbsury Scoot and Scramble raised the funds needed to install a new set of swings in Upton Snodsbury park.
A committee made up of five local parents organised the race, with more than 130 runners tackling the 10km challenge and 50 children taking part in a 1km race.
Combined with donations from local businesses, including Worcestershire Home Improvements and CJC, and a top-up grant from Worcestershire County Council, enough money was raised to install the swings in January, by HFN Landscapes.
On Saturday, February 11, the swings were officially opened by Councillor Linda Robinson with over 50 villagers in attendance.
Following the ribbon cutting, the children took no time at all to enjoy the new cradle and flat seat swing.
Natasha Dent, chair of the committee, said: “We are delighted to have the swings officially opened today by Councillor Linda Robinson who has been very supportive throughout.
"It is wonderful to see so many children using the swings and we are very thankful for the kind donations from the race sponsors, from USPRA and Worcestershire Council.
"We hope the swings will be enjoyed for many years to come”.
The next Snodsbury Scoot and Scramble will be on Sunday, June 18.
Proceeds from that event will go to the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.
