HUNDREDS of people visited Worcester city centre for the first day of Light Night 2023.
The city centre was filled with unique, illuminated art installations as well as food stalls and street performances to entertain the crowds.
The free event is the fourth annual Light Night brought to the city by The Arches Worcester Festivals, offering new installations and attractions every year.
Some of this year's installations included Light Looper, by The Kazimier, in The Cornmarket and Colony, by Mike Blow, in St Martin’s Quarter.
Lampounette by TILT, featured giant desk lamps in Cathedral Square and Windows of Light, curated by David Edmunds, illuminated the entrance to Crowngate Shopping Centre.
Jean Paskell, volunteer at Light Night, said: "It is a brilliant community event which brings the city alive.
"There is just a real buzz about the city, and it is an excellent opportunity for people to see different things.

"This is my fourth Light Night, and everyone has been different and has never been repeated which I think is brilliant.
"It is truly international, it’s a great mix of emerging artists and internationally famous ones who have all been given equal footing.
"This is the last of the official Arches Festival events, so we hope to continue with future events if we can secure the funding."
This was the first year that food vendors were available for those in attendance.
Businesses such as The Beefy Boys, Neighbourhood, The Cheeky Maharaja, No Frickin Chicken, Yum Sweet Treats and The Peaky Grinder were providing food options for the hundreds of attendees.
The city centre cafés and restaurants were also open as usual.
One of the most popular installations was in St Swithin's Church, with queues stretching down The Shambles.
There were also street performers such as fire breathers and the Strobilophones performance by Picto Facto outside The Guildhall.

The performance consisted of inflatable puppets, dancers and singers engaging with the audience around the High Street and other city streets.
To accommodate Light Night, The Cornmarket car park on City Walls Road, has closed during the event.
Light Night will continue for the second day tonight (Thursday, February 23).
