A POST Office in Worcester has extended its temporary closure.

Ombersley Road Post Office was supposed to re-open today at 1pm, but this has been extended to March 1.

The business has been closed for 15 days because of a refurbishment.

While the branch at 129 Ombersley Road is closed, customers are advised to use alternative post offices.

Nearby branches include the Brickfields Post Office at One Stop on Brickfields Road, Worcester Post Office at the WHSmith on High Street, and Warndon Post Office at SPAR on Cranham Drive.

Scott Lacey, network provision lead for the Post Office, said: "We are writing to update you about the building work at the above location, and the branch closed on Monday 6 February 2023 at 17.30.

"Due to delays, the service will not re-open on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 1pm, as previously advised.

"The branch is now scheduled to re-open on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 1pm.

"We have provided posters for display in the branch and the store to let customers know.

"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience the temporary closure may cause.

"We hope that our customers will continue to use the Post Office."

There is also a branch at Fernhill Heath Costcutter Stores and Post Office, 101 Droitwich Road.

In November 2022, the busy Ombersley Road Post Office changed ownership after 21 years.

Donna Evans, the former postmistress of the Ombersley Road Post Office, recently sold the business to its new owner Dinesh Nathan.
