EXTRA police patrols have been organised to reassure a shocked community after two teenagers were robbed at knifepoint. 

The 14-year-old boys were walking home across Battenhall Park in Worcester when two unknown males assaulted them and held a knife to their throats before making them hand over their phones.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Police are continuing to make enquiries, carrying a trawl of local CCTV. The local Safer Neighbourhood team are aware of this incident and will be carrying out reassurance patrols in the area."

Shocked residents said they were left feeling unsettled and said it was rare for incidents of this nature to take place in Battenhall.

The robbery took place on Tuesday at 9.40pm.

In a previous statement, West Mercia Police said: "At around 9.40pm on Tuesday, February 14, two teenage boys were walking home across Battenhall Park in Worcester when they were approached by two unknown males who assaulted them and held a knife to their throats and made them both hand over their phones.

"The unknown males took their mobile phones and then walked off in the direction of Tesco in St Peters in Worcester.

"The two boys were not injured.

"The two offenders are described by the victims as one white man and one Asian man. Officers are continuing to make enquiries and are examining CCTV footage."
