TWO plans could see a village grow even bigger with more than 40 new homes.
The applications for 42 new homes in Drakes Broughton near Pershore would see an existing estate grow by 30 homes.
A controversial plan for 12 homes next to Drakes Broughton Village Hall has returned again after being turned down a combined four times by council planners and government planning inspectors in the last five years.

One plan would see 30 homes built on fields between Sanctuary Housing’s 110-home development known as The Orchards and the village’s Stonebow Road, close to St Barnabas CE First and Middle School.
The new homes would be accessed by an extension of an existing road through the Sanctuary development which is served by a main entrance off the main Worcester Road.
A returning plan by Juliff Homes would see 12 homes, including four affordable homes, built on nearby land off Walcot Lane next to Drakes Broughton Village Hall.
A similar plan for 12 homes was rejected by planners at Wychavon District Council in 2021 as the land was classed as open countryside and outside any agreed boundary for housing in the village.
An appeal was then made by Juliff Homes to the government’s planning inspectors in a bid to get the decision overturned but was turned down.

A number of objections were made against the plan when it was put forward 18 months ago with villagers in Drakes Broughton saying that the land regularly flooded and they feared it would be made worse by building more homes.
A plan to build 10 homes on the land was rejected by planners at Wychavon District Council in 2018 and an appeal was rejected by a government planning inspector later that year.

This came after the plan was first put forward in 2017 but eventually scrapped.
However, the land has now been included as a potential site for homes in the ongoing and much-delayed review of the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) which sets out where tens of thousands of homes will be built around the county in the next two decades.
Both plans can be viewed by visiting Wychavon District Council’s website.
The application number for the 30-home plan is W/22/02744/OUT and W/23/00258/FUL for the 12-home plan.
Consultation ends on March 9 for both plans.
