A BACON thief has been hit with a fine from Worcester magistrates.

Cameron Nelmes, of Cranham Drive, Worcester, was caught on CCTV stealing £50 worth of packs of bacon from a Co-op store.

Fatima Yasmin, prosecuting, told the court the offences took place at the Barker Street-based supermarket on November 6 last year.

The prosecutor said it was the latest theft to hit the store, shoplifting having cost the supermarket more than £17,000 in lost income.

Sam Lamsdale said Nelmes suffered from ADHD and depression and had alcohol issues but was seeking help to turn his life around.

The 24-year-old was fined £80 and ordered to pay costs of £135, victim surcharge of £32 and £50 compensation to Co-op.

The total, £297, was added to existing court debts Nelmes owes being paid through a reduction in his benefits.
