Would-be entrepreneurs in Worcestershire will have the chance to pitch their business ideas to a panel of experts.

Aspiring entrepreneurs and start-up businesses less than a year old are being encouraged to enter the Dragon’s Den-style event.

Judging this year’s event on March 28 at The Worcester Arena is Dr Jayne Nation, commercial director at Wynne-Jones IP; Jason French, owner of Business Doctors; and Peter Hill, who won investment in Dragons’ Den for his pet product inventions.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member for economy, skills and infrastructure, said: “Having received such positive feedback from the last event I am delighted to see this event return, giving more opportunities to showcase the great entrepreneurial talents we have in our county. x

“QuickPitch provides an invaluable opportunity to share ideas in front of a supportive community. I urge anyone with a great idea to submit an entry.”

This year’s competition, organised by Worcestershire County Council’s Enterprising Worcestershire team in partnership with The University of Worcester, is set to be even bigger than last year, with more participants getting the opportunity to pitch their ideas.

'Fantastic experience'

A £250 cash prize is up for grabs for the first-place winner courtesy of headline sponsor, Wynne-Jones IP.

Shortlisted entrants will also get the opportunity to receive pitching guidance before the event to ensure they are well-prepared for the day.

Last year’s winner, Dr Kirsten Protherough, said: "I was so honoured to be able to have the opportunity to present the Home Visit Healthcare vision to the judges and receive positive and insightful feedback that the business will take forward.

“It was a fantastic experience to hone my presentation skills."

To be considered for shortlisting, interested applicants must submit their entry by 11 pm on February 24. To enter, applicants must submit this simple form.

For those interested in watching the pitching event you can register your interest on the Business Worcestershire Event Portal.

The Enterprising Worcestershire programme is funded by Worcestershire County Council, the District Councils, and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
