Here are the criminals jailed for the most serious crimes in Worcestershire during the first month of 2023.
Heartless man Jamie Lines was jailed for blackmail.
Lines, of HMP Hewell but previously of Ombersley Road, Worcester, stood in the dock with his arms behind his back as a judge told him he was a "dishonest man".
The 30-year-old had previously admitted the offence appearing at Worcester Crown Court to learn his fate.
Peter McCartney, prosecuting, said Lines and the victim met on a dating website before demanding cash from the vulnerable victim.
The judge jailed Lines for 18 months and said, as there was no realistic prospect of rehabilitation, the sentence would not be suspended.

Serial offender Brandon Jones was jailed for a "conveyor belt" of offences including breaching a restraining order, stealing a winning scratchcard and trying to commit another burglary.
Brandon Jones was also in breach of two suspended sentences and on bail for another offence when he went on a crime spree on December 27 last year, Worcester Magistrates Court heard.
The 25-year-old, of Washwood Heath Road, Birmingham and formerly of Tallow Hill, Worcester - and who has links to Droitwich, Evesham, Bromsgrove and Kidderminster - was jailed for 52 weeks when he appeared in front of city magistrates on January 6.

Former West Mercia police officer Rhett Wilson was jailed for abusing his position.
Rhett Wilson who was previously based in Shropshire, was found guilty of one count of perverting the course of justice after a Worcester Crown Court trial in December.
The 27-year-old had previously pleaded guilty to three police corruption offences.
On January 20 he was given a 34-month jail term.

And Matthew Wilkes, 31, of Willows House, Droitwich, was jailed for his role in the theft of high-value cars and laptops meant for underprivileged children.
Wilkes has been handed six years for conspiracy to steal BMWs and six years for conspiracy to steal HGVs and trailers, with the sentences to be served concurrently.
Throughout 2019 and 2020, Wilkes worked with Alan Edwards and Conrad Pearce to steal seven BMW cars valued at £336,000 from dealerships and sales forecourts across the country, including in Worcester and London.

The trio also stole ten HGV trailers laden with goods such as household appliances and medical supplies worth a total of £1 million from transport hubs across Birmingham, Suffolk, the East Midlands, Leicestershire and Merseyside.
Footage found on Wilkes’ phone showed him filming himself stealing a BMW.
