A POPULAR smokehouse-style street food business is opening up a new takeaway in Kidderminster town centre.
Fat Eddie’s Smoke House, which was previously run from a shack on a pub car park, will be open for business at 57 Oxford Street from Thursday (January 19).
Takeaway owner Ed Vickery, aged 46, started his business after being made redundant during the Covid pandemic. He worked in the events industry for 24 years and was inspired by smokehouse food whilst working in America.
He said: "When Covid happened I was made redundant and I had to transfer my skills.
"It's the best thing I've done really. I love cooking - it's a passion”.

He first set up Fat Eddie’s Smokehouse at the Lock Inn car park in Wolverley and later opened a takeaway in Worcester.
Now, the business will be serving up its signature smoked brisket stack, burgers, wraps, dirty fries and more, from its new Kidderminster base.
The mission statement of the business is ‘stay safe, shop local, support local business,’ with Mr Vickery sourcing ingredients from Bishops Farm in Blakeshall, Wolverley, and Bewdley Farm Shop.
The takeaway will be open from 4.30pm until 9.30pm Thursday to Sunday.
