A WORCESTER headteacher has been nominated for a top award at this year's Worcestershire Education Awards.
Emily Calvert, headteacher of North Worcester Primary Academy, on John Comyn Drive, has been nominated for the award of Headteacher of the Year.
Mrs Ratcliffe was called "honest", "welcoming and "enthusiastic" by her nominator.
Natasha Ratcliffe, nominator and mum to pupils at North Worcester Primary Academy, said: "Emily is the reason I sent my daughter to a school that wasn’t even built yet.
"She shared her vision and passion for the new school and I felt confident that she would deliver.
"She is enthusiastic and cares so much about the children. She wants to make sure children are equipped for the world and wants to make the world a better place for them to grow up in.
"She wears her heart on her sleeve and is welcoming. She is loud and funny but gains respect from all as she is fair and honest."

Mrs Calvert said the nomination was "utterly unexpected" and also praised the efforts of the school's "hard-working staff".
She said: "This is completely unexpected and utterly humbling to receive.
"At North Worcester, we place children at the heart of everything we do, considering how to teach them to be inspired by the wonder that is life and the impact each of them will have upon the world in the future.
"I am a firm believer in working together to achieve, and as such give credit to the committed and hard-working staff that I have the privilege to work with. Thank you."
North Worcester Primary Academy has also been nominated for the best Primary School of the Year award.
