A MAN and a woman have been taken to hospital after paramedics treated them for minor injuries after a crash on the M5.

Drivers were locked into 30-minute-long queues on the motorway after two separate crashes took place on M5 Southbound between J6 and J7, Evesham and Worcester.

One crash involved a lorry and the other involved a car and as a result, two lanes out of three were closed on the M5.

Ambulance services arrived at 2.14pm after receiving reports that a car had left the carriageway.

Paramedics treated the driver of the car and a female passenger before they were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further treatment. 

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance services said: "We were called to reports of a car that had left the carriageway on the M5 southbound, near to junction 6, at 2.14pm.

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. On arrival, we discovered two patients.

"A man, who was the driver of the car, and a female passenger.

"They were both treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital".

West Mercia Police also attended the crash and said "We were called around 2.15pm this afternoon.

"No-one is injured in either incident, both are now being dealt with by Highways Agency".

The motorway has now been cleared.
