A water company has spent the whole day pumping away raw sewage.
Two pumps have broken down at Severn Trent’s Plough Road pumping station in Tibberton, just outside of Worcester.
As a result, a team of workmen have spent the last day transporting sewage away.
“We apologise for any disruption caused after two pumps failed at our Tibberton Plough Road pumping station yesterday,” said a spokesperson for Severn Trent.
“Teams attended the site straight away to attempt to fix the pumps and tanker sewage away to prevent it impacting the area around the pumping station.”
As of 7pm on Tuesday, January 10, Severn Trent workmen are still working at the site.
It is not yet clear when the issue will be resolved.
“Our teams are still on site working hard to fix the pumps and tanker sewage away – we realise this will cause some disruption in the village of which we apologise, but it’s our priority to protect the environment and get the pumps fixed as soon as possible,” the spokesperson added.
Speed the Plough, located in the affected area, remains open for business.
A Facebook post from the pub’s landlord, Tom Chance, read: “Due to an issue that is completely out of my control, the car park is occupied by Severn Trent Water and it will be like that for the rest of the day.
“This is not a problem with the pub, this is a Severn Trent problem and they are working to rectify this problem ASAP.
“Like I said we are open as usual.”
