THE River Severn continues to flood near Worcester city centre as water levels are still rising and more rain is expected today.

Anil Patel captured photos of the burst banks at the River Severn this morning at South Parade in Worcester. 

Flood barriers have been put up in Bewdley. Evesham has also been warned to expect flooding from the River Avon.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the River Severn, telling residents near the river to 'be prepared' for possible flooding.

Flooding is also expected to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Highley to Tewkesbury.

Locations that may be affected include Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke, Upton upon Severn, South Quay, Diglis Parade, and Hylton Road towpath.

And flooding from drains may also affect Worcester Racecourse and Worcestershire County Cricket ground.

The river level in Bewdley is predicted to peak at between 3.4m to 3.7m on Tuesday, January 10.

And Worcester is also expected to reach between 4.1m to 4.4m on Tuesday.

River levels in Kempsey Yacht Club are expected to reach  between 5.8m to 6.2m on Tuesday.

The Environment Agency has urged people to plan journeys that avoid using low-lying footpaths and roads near local water sources and rivers.

River Avon Evesham 

The agency has also issued a flood warning for the River Avon. 

River levels have risen at the Bredon river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. 

This has resulted in the potential flooding of property, roads, and roads next to the river.

Bredon is predicted to peak overnight by reaching between 2.1m to 2.5m.
