A MAJOR road used by commuters near Worcester has closed today for essential gas works set to last over two months.

The works started at 8.30am this morning on Martley Road, Lower Broadheath, and will last until March 27.

The village has seen a number of lengthy road closures and temporary lights in recent months while work on a new housing development takes place.

The closure is to accommodate a return to the site to continue uncompleted work, approximately 800m by 0.6m in the carriageway. 

The work is being carried out by Gas Transportation Company Ltd.
