A FARE dodger has been hit with a hefty fine after travelling on a train without a rail ticket.
Christopher Davies was asked to produce a ticket at Malvern Link station but had not bought one, magistrates heard.
The 41-year-old, of Elgar Avenue, Malvern, was stopped for an interview, but Great Western Railway prosecutor Mrs Erskin told magistrates "He exercised his right to leave".
During the hearing of the case on December 16, she also said Davies had been written to about the offence but had no response.
Davies was fined £220 and ordered to pay compensation of £6.30 - the cost of the railway ticket.
Davies was also ordered to pay victim surcharge of £88 and costs of £180 - Davies owing the total amount of £494.30 to the courts.
