A PLAN to turn seven acres of land into a dog walking field has been put forward.

The planning submitted to Malvern Hills District Council asks for permission to create the dog walking field on seven acres of agricultural land, which was last used for sheep grazing and haymaking, off Quay Lane in Earls Croome.

A six-foot-high fence would be erected around the land to stop dogs from running away alongside a 10-space car park.

A statement included with the application said: “The land will be securely enclosed with a six-foot high post and wire fence … [which] will prevent dogs from running away or leaving the field without their owners and therefore there will be no risk of dogs disturbing local residents or getting on to the road.

“This service will particularly appeal to those owners who have dogs which may be nervous or antisocial, have poor recall, or have a disability.

“A dog walking field set in the rural countryside, which is easily accessible, will be a valuable addition to the dog walking community in and around Worcestershire.

“The proposal will involve customers booking hourly sessions to use the field, with the option of booking for longer sessions, using an online booking system. Only customers who have made a prior booking will be able to use the field.

“Customers will be given an access code to enter the field once they have booked and paid for their slot. The booking system will restrict customers so that only customers with a maximum of six dogs may use the facility at any one time.

“The use will therefore be extremely limited and remain at a very low density.

“The use of the field will be in accordance with strict rules, whereby customers are to be responsible for their dogs, must park in the designated areas, must not arrive before their allotted time, loud or noisy dogs will not be permitted to return, customers must clean up after themselves and leave the site before the next customer has arrived. Bins will be provided for dog mess.”
