A WORCESTER man has been fined more than £600 for not buying a railway ticket.
James Cooke, of Henwick Road, was caught at Worcester Foregate Street having not paid £6.30 to travel on a Great Western Railway service.
The 24-year-old was asked to produce a ticket by an inspector, but couldn't produce one on May 26.
Magistrates heard the rail operator wrote to Cooke on October 11 about the matter but received no response, taking the matter to court.
Cooke was fined £440.
He was ordered to pay compensation of £630, victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £180, meaning Cooke owes £670.30 to the courts.
The case was heard on December 16.
