A DROITWICH woman has slammed Severn Trent Water for not fixing a 'dangerous' leak that was reported five days ago.

Catherine Bourne, of Witton Avenue, in Droitwich Spa, has claimed that the leak was reported to Severn Trent Water on Saturday, December 10 after starting the day before.

Since the leak was reported, Mrs Bourne and other residents have been attempting to liaise with Severn Trent Water to get the problem fixed.

But Mrs Bourne says that, despite a visit today from Severn Trent Water staff, the problem has still not been fixed.

She said: "I think it is incredibly bad for a company as big as Severn Trent Water to seemingly not know what is happening and also to leave it this long to come out and visit.

"With the recent icy weather, the water was causing a serious hazard on the road and the pavement as it just kept freezing over.

"We have a lot of elderly residents in the area and this is just causing more of an unnecessary danger to them in this weather."

Mrs Bourne and other residents were allegedly told the leak had been fixed today when nothing had changed.

She said: "The bungalow is believed to be empty so we have been trying to get in touch with Severn Trent to get the problem fixed. It was first reported on Saturday and we have been waiting ever since.

"A workman came out to view the leak today and was there for a long amount of time. Despite being there for ages and a second van coming to inspect the leak, it still has not been fixed.

"Another resident called them to find out what had happened and we were told on the phone that the issue was sorted when it clearly hadn't been."

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry for the disruption being caused by the water leak on Witton Avenue.

"Our teams attended at the weekend to do an initial investigation and then came back today aiming to start the repair.

"Due to some complications on-site and a team emergency, the job had to be cancelled, however, we are aiming to return tomorrow so we can begin to fix the pipe.

"Again, we’re really sorry for the inconvenience, but want to assure everyone it will be our absolute priority to fix the leak and have everything back to normal as quickly as we can, and we’d also like to say thanks for everyone’s patience and understanding while we do this.”

Severn Trent Water confirmed the leak was fixed on Friday (December 16) and apologised for any disruption caused.
