Worcester’s Carnival Queen has joined Father Christmas to spread festive cheer around the city.
Melanie Eastwood, who was crowned at Worcester Carnival in the summer, joined Santa and his sleigh for one of his evening visits to the streets of Worcester.
The sleigh is entirely organised by volunteers and despite temperatures dropping, Worcester Lions Club and their supporters are determined to continue to help Santa visit as many areas as possible.
Santa has already visited the Nunnery Lane, Berkeleys and Blanquettes Avenue areas. On Thursday he will visit St Peters and then the following week the Henwick, Lower Wick and Harleys areas, before finishing his travels this year in Claines.
The remaining dates are:
Tuesday, December 13: Henwick area, north/south of the Martley Rd
Thursday, December 15: Lower Wick, Canada Way area
Friday, December 16: The Harleys, Warndon – near Worcestershire Royal Hospital
Monday, December 19: Claines, Cornmeadow Lane area
Full details of all the routes and latest updates can be found on the dedicated Sleigh Facebook page: www.facebook.com/worcesterlionsssleigh
A new feature that is proving popular this year is the Live Tracking of Santa’s travels on Facebook.
Alison Lane, the Lions Sleigh co-ordinator, said: “We haven’t been able to visit as many areas this year, so Live Tracking has allowed people to come out and find Santa.”
Another first is having an online GoFundMe Santa Sleigh Appeal so those who don’t carry cash can also donate if they wish (https://gofund.me/840fa7bf).

The Lions had previously apologised that Santa could not make it to as many parts of Worcester as in previous years.
Worcester Lions president Peter Moore said: “We are delighted to bring Santa and his sleigh to Worcester again this year.
“Unfortunately we have not been able to cover as many areas as previously but have spread the routes as broadly as possible across the city.
“We realise that some will be disappointed that we are not visiting their area but hope they will understand that as volunteers we can only do so much.”
